E-mail Print PDF

At a recent Clarion boro council meeting members approved a series of improvements along South Street. Council gave permission for bids to be sought for the work planned on South Street. Council  then gave its approval for the retention of the project consultant to also serve as a daily job supervisor for the planned rehabilitation and storm sewer work which will be done along several blocks of South Street. After the official procedures were done the public comment segment of the meeting started. Several concerned citizens requested that  additional steps for historic preservation be a part of the improvements on South Street. Historic preservation sought by citizens are: retention of traditional street setbacks of certain homes, preservation of historic horse hitching posts and trees in the project area. There were no immediate remarks from boro council members. The council president Joann Vavrek informed the public that the Boro solicitor had suggested council members to refrain from responding to these requests for now. Vavrek also abstained from making any statement or additional comment.
