Speakers See Growth Coming

Fifth District Congressman Glenn "G-T" Thompson and 63rd District State Representative Donna Oberlander were the guest speakers for Thursday's Clarion County Economic Development Corporation's Eggs And Answers event.     Congressman Thompson told those attending the gathering, at the Clarion area Holiday Inn hotel, that he is pleased with the positive economic development which is unfolding with a growing Marcellus Shale natural gas drilling boom.     Meanwhile, Representative Oberlander says we could be on the way to some major economic growth here with the first signs of the startup of the gas industry here.

 

One Hurt In Miola Road Wreck

One person was injured, possibly seriously, in a traffic wreck, in northeastern Clarion County.     The man hurt in this incident had to be flown, from near the wreck scene, to Pittsburgh's U-P-M-C Presbyterian Hospital trauma center for treatment.     It was about 6:30 Tuesday evening that Richard Brake of the Kittanning area had been driving an s-u-v at high speed on Miola Road, just north of Maxwell Road, in Highland Township.     As his vehicle crested a hill on a curve, Brake lost control of the s-u-v.     The vehicle went off of the road, hit a dirt enbankment and finally flipped over.     Brake was trapped in his s-u-v and had to be freed by emergency personnel.     Assisting, at the location, were Farmington Township fire-rescue, along wih both Famington Township and Clarion Hospital ambulance crews, plus a Clarion based Stat Medevac helicopter unit.

 

Boy Hurt In Traffic Mishap

A State Police news release indicates that a 14-year-old boy was flown to Pittsburgh's Childrens Hospital for treatment of the injuries received in a traffic mishap, in northern Armstong County.     The un-named boy had been operating a motorcycycle on Lawsonham Road, just north of the intersection with Duncan Road, in Madison Township.     The boy lost control of the bike as it was going aound a curve.     The bike went off of the road and struck a guardrail.    (This mishap occurred just after 5:30 Sunday afternoon.)

 

Traffic Pursuit Arrest

At speeds over 100 miles per hour many times:  A State Police traffic pursuit made its way from western Forest County, into north central Clarion County, before the driver being chased was finally stopped by troopers, after 1:30 Saturday morning.     State Police had first tried to stop 23-year-old Tommmy James Fenstermaker of the Meadville area (Crawford County) for a traffic violation on Route 36, in Tionesta Township.     Fenstermaker quickly sped away from troopers.     He was pursued into Clarion County on Route 36,  onto Pinehollow Road and back onto Route 36.      He was chased through Tylersburg and south onto Route 66, through Snydersburg and Lucinda.     But, Clarion based  State Police deployed spike strips across Route 66, at Zacherl's Farm Market, Paint Township.     It was there that Fenstermaker was stopped and arrested for felony fleeing and eluding.     Fenstermaker is now being held, in the Warren County Prison, on a parole detainer.
